The routes are marked with color coded posts and reflectors. While it is marked well, I recommend taking a map for your first few runs. Our Austin trail running group ran here in early July and really enjoyed it. In terms of trail difficulty It is relatively flat compared to trails in Austin, but most of Dante's Trail is rocky and choppy. Make sure to bring plenty of water as there is no drinking water at any of the trail heads.
Parking: There are 3 trail heads that all offer parking. The trail head in town starts in a neighborhood, so street parking is the main option. This is the best route if you are looking for a lighter hike or for walking. Virgil's Trail is short and flat paved with crushed granite. Keep in mind that during the spring and early summer parts of the trail close to protect the Golden Cheeked Warbler.
